Beginning in 2008, the library will be shifting it's Thursday hours from 12-8 to 10-5.  The purpose of this change is to allow for additional morning hours for those that would like to use the library then as well as to provide for additional staffing Monday through Wednesday. 

The library currently only has morning hours on Friday and Saturday meaning that those who may be otherwise occupied in the afternoon and night are mostly unable to use the library.  By shifting these hours, we hope to provide for those patrons.  Additionally, the library usually has many visitors in the evenings during the beginning of the week due to many meetings, groups, and activities taking place in the library.  To meet the needs of these visitors, the library requires extra staffing which it can not pay for without decreasing some evening hours.  This shift will allow for better staffing the evenings the library is open.

To determine when the shift would take place, a survey of library use was done over the months of September and October with Thursday evenings being the least used.

Additionally, those groups which would like to meet on Thursdays at the library may still do so by checking out a community room key during the library's operating hours.
